Pony Tail

Nick has a ritual with Briz most nights where he gives her a bath and gets her ready to bed. Recently Nick has become Brizzy's personal hair stylist and tries out different hairdos after her bath. I considered it a huge milestone when he could put her hair in a pony tail. Dealing let her mullet has paid off!

The Zoo

One of the positives of living close to Portland is that there is a lot more to do (see, I'm working hard to have a good attitude). We got annual passes to the zoo and children's museum, both
of which are awesome. Last week we ventured out in the cold to the zoo. It was so nice with hardly anyone there and a ton of animals out. Briz was in heaven. Although she got about as excited to see any kind of water as she was to see animals.

The last time I took her was last summer and it's amazing how much more she knows now and how much more she knows. I'm excited for it to become a regular thing.

This was my attempt to capture the event, and it was as we were leaving, so she was done. Can you tell by this face?

Anyone ever want to join me, let me know!

Help!

My daughter is a nerd. No seriously she is.
The last month or so I have been desperately trying to get her to watch a movie, a tv show, anything on t.v. so that I can have some down time, or just time without her following me around. But no luck! The second I try to get her to, she finds the nearest book and distracts herself by pretending to read. I've said this many times before and I'll say it again, whose daughter is she anyways?
Any tips on how to get your kid addicted to the t.v. would be very much appreciated.

January . . . eh

January was sort of a crappy month, so I'm glad it's over. When we got back from Christmas with the Cottles, we had less than a week to pack up all of our crap (and we have a lot of crap) and move. We moved about an hour north to a suburb of Portland, Beaverton. I'm sure a lot of you already know this, but moving is exhausting. And it was my first experience moving with a toddler. Yikes!

In moving I have learned that perhaps I have a problem. I get too attached to things. That may not sound like a problem, but when you have to detach is. I miss my friends, my ward, my house, my neighbors, my gym, and my short drive to work (That's the short list). It's not all bad and I'm starting to get used to my house and neighborhood.

It was also a rough month because Briz had a difficult time adjusting, and she also had a sinus infection. She was SO clingy with me and afraid of lots of stupid things in our house. She was constantly testing me and challenging me. She's much more adjusted now, and while she still likes to push my buttons, her timeouts are once again working :)

This is Briz taking one of her many timeouts. Often I will ask her when she is doing something bad if she wants a timeout and she will tell me yes :) As long as it changes her behavior, I'm cool with it.
