Oh yeah, she's talented

One of Brizzy's favorite tricks is to shove as many fingers in her mouth as possible. She has found her thumb a couple times and so I have thought, oh no, here comes the bad habit! But no, she will stick with the fingers and/or fist. She has always put her hands up to her face and mouth, even in utero. But now she purposefully puts them in there, getting very excited and sucking like a mad woman! Not only does she stick her fingers in her mouth, but she can't keep anything still while she's awake, so she's constantly moving her fingers when they're in there. She makes all sorts of fun gang signs. And I love when she folds her hands together and starts sucking on both! A consistent move of hers, however, is to place one finger up her nose and the other fingers in her mouth. Perfect. Now she has holes for every finger. What more could you ask for in life!

Vege Garden

I get pretty proud of myself over stupid things. One thing I get excited about is when I check something off my "To Do list". Pick up shirt off the ground. Check! Sometimes I'll write things down on a list and cross it off, just to boost my self esteem.

But one of my proudest moments of the summer (besides birthing a child), is growing my very first vegetable garden. It still is pretty sad looking compared to my neighbors, but hey, baby steps. I took pictures of my very first produce. But now, I have a ton more. I am currently growing tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, zuccini, peppers, and pumpkins.

Woohoo! A squash and a cucumber.

Behind me you can see some of my little garden. And for some reason I look ghostly white in this picture.
This is one of they many reasons I consider myself pretty nerdy. But I think its such an amazing thing to plant something in the ground and see it grow into something beautiful or edible. I am almost as proud of my rose bushes, but I thought I would spare you.

Tips for Hiring a Babysitter

I am starting work next Friday. I'm starting to get a little anxious about it, and I couldn't sleep cause I was up thinking about it (that and Brizzy kept waking up, trying to poop). My OCD came out and I started to put together a "Babysitter Binder," with all of the information I felt like a babysitter would need to know to take care of Brizzy. If this doesn't make me a big enough nerd, I spent a good hour creating a beautiful, perfectly laid out schedule for Briz, color coded and everything.

I have left Briz quite a bit before, but its always been with a family member, a cousin, or sister, or grandparent. So I have two questions that I need help with:

1. Is there anything important that I should let the babysitter know?

2. What should I look for in a good babysitter?

I'm slightly paranoid because its my first child, and also because I feel like I've heard a lot of horror stories (I may also use these tips for when Nick watches her alone :) )

Thanks for your tips!

Fun on the Water

We have been having fun on the water the last few days. Some of the pictures are a little belated, but hey, at least I posted them. Brizzy had her first boat ride a month ago, and has been out again a few times. She loves it. We also have taken my parents seadoos out to Detroit Lake. It was absolutely gorgeous on the Detroit and the lake was SO nice. I never want to leave; I feel like I could live there.

Nick waterskiing next to the ducks.
He successfully waterskiied on one. Don't know how he did it behind the seadoos.

The lake was absolutely beautiful. Here is Sierra waterskiing.

Cousin Crosby on her boat. She's my little nanny. She loves to change diapers!!!

Jaxon. He was wimpy and cold, but at least he looks cool with his two front teeth gone.

Little Brizzy bundled up.

Being Off Gluten Sucks!

There's really not much more I can say. It's hard. And I feel like I'm constantly trying to think of something to eat. Thank goodness I can still drink Diet Dr. Pepper, without which, my life would be empty. In the end though, I do believe its helping Briz with her tummy problems. And if it makes her happy, then it is completely worth it. Here are some updated pics of her.

Spitting up as usual. This one was a nice, pleasant, slow drip. We like that much better than the projectile vomit :)

She looks like she has such 'tude in this picture. Look at how cute I am in my dress!

The Many Faces of Briz

Brizzy turned 3 months yesterday. We can hardly believe our little newborn is now a baby! We love seeing her little personality develop. We're not exactly sure of her measurements, but based on her last doctor's appt., we think that she weighs about 12 pounds, and is about 25 or 26 inches (we measured her this morning. She is getting very long, but her cheeks continue to get bigger :)
She is a little chatterbox, and wants to talk to anybody that will listen. When she is awake she is always either standing or kicking, but doesn't really care too much about rolling over and trying to crawl. She did, however, roll over in her crib last week, and was a little stunned by what she did. She loves to sing and imitate faces.

The druel will be coming any second. And she's most likely snoring in this picture.

Right before a sneeze I think.

"Mom! Stop taking pictures of me!"

Right before bed time.

Our little blondie.

FYI

Nick was the author of the last post. Just so you know . . .
