I realized I forgot to post about the Oregon Epic Relay that I ran at the end of June. It was a relay race, consisting of 12 people, 2 vans, and a whole lotta fun. I was the team captain, which was well, not, so much fun. But once the running actually started, I had a blast. It was an adventure to the say the least. (The pictures are in reverse order, sorry, too lazy to change it).
Tom won the Prefontaine look alike award, mostly be default. But he won a really nice pair of sunglasses, and my favorite quote of the whole weekend probably was his: "This is the best day of my life."
After it was all over. We busted our hinies to come into, well, dead last. Yes, that's right. But we still had like a 9:30 mile, which for us, was pretty good, so we still had a shred of pride left. Just a shred.
Here is Mac finishing in Eugene at Alton Baker Park. Some of the guys were being pretty nice and running with her, but then, of course, she had to try to beat them at the end.
Nick with his bro, Seth. Seth was nice enough to drive down to Oregon with his van to run on our team. But then after his first leg, his knee was killing him. So his van forced him to stop running. He was a good sport about the whole thing.
Brett was our volunteer allstar. I only wish he was wearing his volunteer snug orange vest. It was a good look. He even dressed Jaron in orange just for Nick. Awwww.
Mac flew up from San Diego to run. I will take credit for inspiring her to take up running again. We both look really attractive here. Especially me with my double chin.
This is me dancing out in the street, waiting to entertain our runner. I was mostly likely dancing to either Justin Bieber or Chingy. Both equally awesome.
I was trying to be our water girl for Sarah. This was her crazy long run, 7.5 miles or something. And it was her third leg! But she did SO good, she probably didn't even need me.
Madisen eating yogurt with a pea pod I think. Mmmm.
This was our sweet set up in the back of the burb. Pretty nice if I don't say so myself. It's like we were pros!
Sierra came up and joined us for what was supposed to be Landon's 2nd leg. She did excellent, and she was very excited about her night time gear.
This was a guy from one of our favorite teams, the mohawk team. Here he is throwing up. And for some reason, everyone started cheering, myself included. I don't know, mob mentality or something. It was weird.
Mads getting geared up for her "night time" run. It was funny because it was still really sunny out. But hey, rules are rules.
Except Julia did not want to wear the night time gear. The volunteer got mad at her at the exchange and we kept yelling at the volunteer, "Don't worry, we know people!" (Meaning Nick, cause he puts the race on).
