Dresser

She's sort of starting to look like a boy with her hair. Which is why I have bow in it whenever possible.
My Aunt Sharyl (Yah Yah) painted this dresser for me. Isn't it so adorable? Wish those creative genes would have been passed down to me.
Getting very excited about clapping with her cup in hand.

This Weekend

A few things I learned this weekend:

- I am not even to close to being ready to be a mother of two!
- I'm not as sensitive to gross things like throw up, pee, bile, swelling, staples in body parts, etc. as I thought I would be.
- I'm not very strong physically; I need to start lifting weights (I learned this after Nick passed out in the bathroom).
- I get very bitter when its nice outside but I'm stuck inside.
- Briz doesn't like it very much when I take care of someone else more than her.
- Briz gets confused when she sees her Dad lying on the couch for a long period of time, and doesn't want to play with her every time he sees her.
- It's very nice to live 45 minutes away from my parents when I have had a long night with a coughing, crying baby and a helpless husband.
- I could never, ever, ever, be a nurse. Those people are saints!
- When Nick is on the couch all day long watching the Olympics, he becomes very opinionated about ice dancing. He enjoys it quite a bit and could be a commentator (this could be the drugs as well).
- It is a weird feeling to be away from your baby the first night, but I'm not gonna lie, it's kind of nice.
- Briz likes to make a grunting noise after every time she coughs. It's not very feminine, but its funny.
- I will never again schedule a husband's surgery on a Friday, and then go back to a full day of working on Monday. It doesn't make for the friendliest counselor!
- I CAN survive when my house isn't clean (don't tell Nick I wrote that).
- Even after a very hard weekend and Monday, I love my little goofy family.

Briz, the goof:
Briz is crawling around everywhere, mainly following me wherever I go:

Nick was like this for a couple days:

Knee Surgery

Nick is getting knee surgery in a few hours. And even though I am slighlty nervous (my head reels with the possibilities of things that can go wrong), I am a little excited to see him all doped up. I've heard from others that they say the craziest things. I already warned him I'm going to video tape him.

But this morning at 7:30 a.m. as I got back into bed after getting a drink of water, I already got a little preview (Nick talks in his sleep sometimes). This morning he was sort of half asleep:

Nick: One.
Lexie: What?
Nick: One . . . Eighteen.
Lexie: What?
Nick: That's my carbon footprint.
Lexie: Your carbon footprint from what?
Nick: Miles from my lazer pen, my lazer gun, all of that stuff.
Lexie: Huh? Why are you talking about a carbon footprint?
Nick: For that job you wanted (he's now very frustrated).
Lexie: What job?
Nick: Remember, you were trying to get your Ph.D. in carbon footprinting and there was that job.
Lexie: Laughing uncontrollably.
Nick: Nevermind (and he rolls over).

It's my favorite to try to carry on a conversation with Nick while he's talking in his sleep. When we were first married, he jumped out of bed and yelled, "He's a homosexual!" I wish he could remember what he was dreaming about, but he never can.

On another very positive note, my daughter likes to sleep like nobody's business. She has woken up before 9 only once this last week! I'm hoping its a permanent thing, but we'll see. Most days in the week I have to wake up early for work, so it doesn't really change my schedule. But for Fridays and my weekends, its like heaven! It makes for one happy mama. I haven't slept this much since high school!!!

Nick and his Bromance

It has become a tradition that Nick and I do not spend Valentine's Day together. He spends it with this guy:

And since Nick ends up spending this special day of love with his friend, I can't help but think they have a bromance going on. They say they're doing work, but let's be honest, most of their weekend consists of hanging out and watching the All Star Weekend.
But that's okay, Briz gave me a very special Valentine's Day present this year. On Sunday, she woke up at 9:30 a.m.! It was warranted, since she didn't go to bed until 10 p.m. the night before; she was hangin out with her cousins. But Sunday night, she went to bed at 7:30 p.m. and I had to wake her up at 9:30 a.m. this morning! I feel loved and very well rested. What more could a mom ask for?

Below Average Daughter

This might sound like a pessimistic post title, but I'm just relaying the facts. She had her 9 month appt. yesterday, and she is:

Weight: 17 lbs. 1 oz. - 25th %ile
Head : Don't remember - but it was 25th %ile
Length: 27 inches - 25th %ile

So there ya go, she is 25th%ile for everything: below average. But I was ecstatic that she is packing on the pounds. It mostly seems to be in her cheeks and belly. Love love love her buddha belly!

And hey, at least she can one -handed palm her bottle! (She does this quite often; she's sort of a show off like her Dad).

P.S. And she is starting to crawl a little bit. But I have very mixed feelings about that.
